Polyethylene tanks: benefits to be understood in context

Weight, geometry and integration can offer opportunities, but each benefit depends on the formulation and actual conditions of use.

Potential benefits, not universal promises

In some projects, polyethylene may help reduce mass, integrate complex shapes or lower the number of components. The result nevertheless depends on the material grade, geometry, wall thicknesses, process and actual use.

Chemical resistance, impact behaviour and service life must not be generalised either: they must be considered in relation to the substance, temperature, exposure and loads.

The useful question

Rather than asking whether the material is ‘better’ in absolute terms, it is more useful to establish which requirements the product must meet and which trade-offs are acceptable for the project.
