A family of materials, not a single answer
Polyethylene is a family of thermoplastic polymers. Different grades, formulations, additives and processing methods can produce different behaviours; the material name alone therefore does not define its complete performance.
In rotational moulding, the material is selected together with the geometry, cycle and intended operating conditions of the product. This page offers initial guidance only and does not replace a technical data sheet or an application-specific assessment.
Where it is used
Polyethylene is used in packaging, containers, components, pipes, agricultural products and many everyday items. These examples show how widely the material is used, but do not demonstrate that every formulation is suitable for every application.
What is needed to assess it in a project
A preliminary assessment requires, at minimum, the product function, operating environment, expected loads, substances in contact, temperature ranges, intended service life and applicable regulatory requirements.
